Transcription multiple choice: spot the wrong base pairing in the mRNA

An example figure from the DNA and Protein Synthesis generator.

Answer choice B: the DNA coding strand 5′ ATG CCT AAG TTC GGC 3′, the template strand 3′ TAC GGA TTC AAG CCG 5′ and an mRNA row 5′ AUG CCU CAG UUC GGC 3′, where the seventh base, C, does not pair with the T above it
One answer choice for a transcription question: two DNA strands and the mRNA made from the template strand, with one base deliberately wrong. The seventh mRNA base is C, where the template strand’s T calls for A. Make the other choices with no mistakes or with a different set shuffled, and print each with its letter as the title.

Answer key

  • DNA coding strand: 5′-ATG CCT AAG TTC GGC-3′
  • DNA template strand: 3′-TAC GGA TTC AAG CCG-5′
  • mRNA: 5′-AUG CCU AAG UUC GGC-3′
  • Mistake: mRNA base 7 should be A, not C
